Afrika Korps Kettenkrad
Initially intended to be an air-portable gun tractor to support airborne operations the Sd.Kfz 2 Kettenkrad tracked motorcycle made its operational debut during Operation Mercury; the invasion of Crete in 1941.
The Kettenkrad was widely used by all arms of the Wehrmacht and in all theatres where German forces fought. Over 8,000 Kettenkrad were produced during the Second World War operating as gun tows, supply vehicles and cable-laying. A further 550 Kettenkrad were produced post war for agricultural use.
